Frequently Asked Questions

Q.    Why does ROCIA have just one cleanser when there are so many different skin types?

A.    Actually ROCIA  has two cleansers – olive oil cleansing cake and cleanse.  The reason that we have only one cream cleanser is that the type of individual “natural” ingredients found in cleanse are traditionally known to synergistically work together to help “ balance” skin.   For example:
  • lavender & rose geranium essential oils are both traditionally known as sebum balancers—influences skin to either produce more or less oil
  • coconut oil is an effective emollient but also has water-soluble properties so doesn’t leave skin with any oily, sticky residue
  • jojoba oil, which is technically a natural liquid wax from the jojoba bean, actually dissolves oil and is known for its skin-balancing properties
  • witch hazel, an effective astringent, is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties
  • rose hydrosol … regenerating
  • Vit E &  grapefruit seed extract … powerful antioxidant and natural preservatives
  • Note:  please refer to ROCIA Skincare Chart for recommended products according to specific skin types
Q.    Why doesn’t ROCIA have an eye-makeup remover?

A.    We have found that cleanse (balancing cleanser) is very effective in removing any kind of makeup—including eye products.  A tip to remove stubborn makeup such as mascara from around the rim of the eye lid is to take a cotton swab dipped in cleanser and gently wipe off any excess product… it’s that simple.
Remember there are no muscles or oil glands around the eye area so please be very gentle when cleansing.

Note:  all ROCIA skincare products are graded as “edible” and will not hurt the eye or the delicate eye area.

Q.    Won’t the oils in cleanse (balancing cleanser) make my skin more oily?

A.    No …  because of the types of oils used!  For example:
  • Jojoba oil (called nature’s more effective moisturizer) mimics our natural sebum and actually dissolves debris in clogged pores.  Contrary to what most people think, most oily skin is dry and dehydrated (flaky) because of the synthetic products used to control oil.  These products rob the skin of moisture leaving it unbalanced and prone to more inflammation & infection.
  • Coconut oil (called “white water”) penetrates the skin more readily than any other carrier oil and has water-soluble properties so doesn’t leave skin with any oily, sticky residue

Q.    Why does ROCIA have a Cleansing Cake …  I thought soap wasn’t good to clean the face with?

A.    Our ROCIA olive oil cleansing cake is crafted the traditional way soap was made hundreds of years ago – 100% pure, perfume free, baby-mild and great for skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.  Synthetic soaps should not be used to wash face as they are basically a detergent & chemical product

Tip:  make sure you follow the cleansing process with Toner to bring the skin back to its natural pH level
Note:  as healthy skin is slightly acidic always follow the cleansing process with Toner to bring skin back to its natural pH level
FYI:  Some clients who have rosacea-prone skin, once it’s balanced, like to rotate between the ROCIA cleanser and the olive oil cleansing cake.

Q.    Why should I use a toner?

A.    Toning the skin is the last step in the cleansing process:

  • It removes any last traces of dirt, excess oil & cleanser and better prepares the skin to receive the benefits of other ROCIA skincare products
  • Returns skin to natural healthy pH balance (slightly acidic)
Q.    Are ROCIA minerals micronized?

A.    No.  Micronized minerals are 2.5 microns or smaller.   ROCIA minerals are non-micronized meaning they are between 5-8 microns in size so they cannot penetrate the skin.
